Godhra




India officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country, and the most populous liberal democracy in the world. India is a union of twenty-eight states and seven federally-governed union territories. New Delhi is the capital of India.
 
Godhra is a city and a municipality in Panchmahal district in the Indian state of Gujarat. It is the administrative headquarters of the Panchmahal district. Godhra witnessed communal violence in 2002 which sparked off one of the worst communal riots in the history of the state of Gujarat.
 
Godhra is also one of the religious places in the India which has four bethaks for Vaisnav Sampraday. Two bethaks are of Lord Gokulnathaji, and one each for Lord Gusaiji and Lord Mahaprabhuji. As of 2001 India census, Godhra had a population of 121,852. The males constitute 52 percent of the population and females 48 percent. Godhra has an average literacy rate of 73 percent, higher than the national average of 59.5 percent, male literacy is 78 percent, and female literacy is 66 percent. In Godhra, 14 percent of the population is under 6 years of age.
