Gundlupet is a town in Chamarajanagar district in the Indian state of Karnataka. This small town is about 56 kilometers from on the Mysore Calicut road and about 200 kilometers from Bangalore. It is the last town in Karnataka enroute to Ooty or Calicut. Bandipur National Park Forest Office is 16 kilometers from Gundlupet.   
 
In 2001, the population of the city was 26,368. Males constitute 51 percent of the population and females 49 percent. Gundlupet has an average literacy rate of 63 percent, higher than the national average of 59.5 percent, male literacy is 71 percent, and female literacy is 56 percent. In Gundlupet, 11 percent of the population is under 6 years of age.
