India officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country, and the most populous liberal democracy in the world. India is a union of twenty-eight states and seven federally-governed union territories. New Delhi is the capital of India.
 
Yavatmal  is a city and a municipal council in Yavatmal district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It has an average elevation of 445 metres.
 
As of 2001 India census India, Yavatmal had a population of 122,906. Males constitute 51 percent of the population and females 49 percent. Yavatmal has an average literacy rate of 79 percent, higher than the national average of 59.5 percent, male literacy is 83 percent, and female literacy is 74 percent. In Yavatmal, 12 percent of the population is under 6 years of age.
 
The town is also the chief trading centre in the district, and is connected by road with Dhamangaon station, which is 29 miles from this town. It is also known as cotton city. In British time , it was supposed to be a Hill Station. Yavat means mountain and mal means row so name is Yavatmal. Yavatmal District is having 16 talukas. Pusad,Wani, Digras are important talukas in the district. District has given two Chief ministers to Maharashtra.
