Anantapur is one of the famous cities in India. Anantapur pronunciation is a city and a municipal corporation in Anantapur district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is the headquarters of the Anantapur District, the largest district of Andhra Pradesh. its population is 4,66,000. It has an average elevation of 335 metres.
 
As of 2006 India census India, Anantapur has a population of 360,951. Males constitute 51 percent of the population and females 49 percent. Anantapur has an average literacy rate of 69 percent, higher than the national average of 59.5 percent; with 56 percent of the males and 44 percent of females literate. 10 percent of the population is under 6 years of age. It is a fast growing city that has been upgraded to a city with a population of around 5 Lakhs.
 
Anantapur is an important education center containing like as Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Govt Polytechnic College, Police Training College, Corporate Colleges like Nalanda, Chaitanya, Narayana etc. Anantapur is an important sport city in Andhrapradesh. Rural Development Trust, RDT developed RDT Sports center Stadium for Ranji Trophy. So many Ranji matches held here. Major Factories include Saptagiri Camphors Pvt Ltd, B.Kothaplli, Anantapur, Zenith Hardware Industries Pvt Ltd, Chinmayanagar, Engineering College Road, and Anantapur.
 
Anantapur City is connected to major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai by the National Highways 7 and 205.
