India officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country, and the most populous liberal democracy in the world. Jammu pronunciation is one of the three regions comprising the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu borders Kashmir to the north, Ladakh to the east, Himachal Pradesh to the south and Azad Kashmir to the west. Home to some of the most popular Hindu shrines, such as Vaishno Devi, Jammu is one of the most famous pilgrimage tourism destinations in India.
 
Jammu is the only region in Kashmir that has a Hindu majority population. 67 percent of Jammu's population practices Hinduism while 24 percent practices Islam and 4 percent Sikhism.
