India officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country, and the most populous liberal democracy in the world. India is a union of twenty-eight states and seven federally-governed union territories. New Delhi is the capital of India.
 
Almora is a cantonment town in Almora district in the state of Uttaranchal, India. It is considered the cultural heart of Kumaon. Its density is 155 per square kilometers. Its elevation area is 1646 meters. As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Almora had a population of 1744. Males constitute 65 percent of the population and females 35 percent. Almora has an average literacy rate of 80 percent, higher than the national average of 59.5 percent; with 70 percent of the males and 30 percent of females literate. 13 percent of the population is under 6 years of age.
