Ponda




India officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country, and the most populous liberal democracy in the world. India is a union of twenty-eight states and seven federally-governed union territories. New Delhi is the capital of India.
 
Ponda located in the central part of Goa. The Ponda city lies about 28 kilometers south east of Panaji and 17 kilometers north east of Margao and is also the capital of Ponda Taluka. Ponda is well connected by road to the Panaji Capital of Goa and main railway junction of Madgaon. Ponda also is the fastest growing city in Goa. Goa's only engineering college, the Goa College of Engineering, is located at nearby Farmagudi.
 
Ponda was a safe haven for Hindu temples. The many Hindu temples in the area include the famous being the Mahalasa Narayani at Mardol, The Shanta Durga temple, Mangueshi Temple, Ramnathi , Mahalaxmi, Nageshi and Navadurga temples. Safa Masjid, a mosque built in 1560 by the Bijapuri ruler Ibrahim Adil Shah is there.

Ponda experiences a boom with day tourists, owing to the clear air, town character with rich culture, high quality of life and conspicuously original history. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of nature, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people also combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in India.
