Satara




India officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area, the second most populous country, and the most populous liberal democracy in the world. Satara is a town located in the Satara District of Maharashtra state of India. The name is derived from the seven hills surrounding the town. The population of the city was 27, 96,906 in the year 2001 with an area 10484 square kilometers. And its population density was 266.77 per square kilometers.
 
The city of Satara was the seat of the former Maratha Chhatrapattis, the nominal rulers of the Maratha empire until its conquest by Britain in 1818. The Maratha empire was founded by Shivaji in the 17th century. Tourist spots in and around Satara City are Koynanagar, Panchgani-Panchgani, often referred to as the Mecca of Maharashtra, is a small hill-station in the state of Maharashtra, India.
 
Mahabaleshwar is one of the few Evergreen Forests of the world, is a hill station located in the Satara District in the Western Ghats range of Maharashtra, India. Ajinkyatara Satara city is situated on the slope of this hill fort.
